Couples Therapy
Transforming communication, connection & intimacy
Relationship Therapy in Reno, NV | California & Nevada Telehealth
It’s lonely feeling so far apart from the person sitting next to you.
You know the quiet exhaustion of a relationship that has fallen out of sync. It’s the daily tension of walking on eggshells, stuck in the same argument while intimacy and sex grind to a standstill. Whether you are navigating shattered trust, dysfunctional patterns, or unspoken disconnection - it is a heavy grief to feel like a stranger to the person who knows you best.
Your nervous system can’t think its way into feeling safe - it has to experience it. While individual therapy can help you unpack things, couples therapy provides the real-time practice to feel yourself changing. It heals both you and your relationship - a true two-for-one.
I welcome partnerships of all kinds - queer, CNM, neurodivergent, & nontraditional

The methods & FAQ
-
EFT is a gold-standard, research-backed approach. At its core, EFT is about attachment - the deep human need to feel safe, secure, and connected to the people we love.
When relationships feel strained, couples often fall into cycles of arguing, withdrawing, or feeling alone. EFT helps partners recognize these patterns and respond to each other in ways that meet those core attachment needs.
The result is more than better communication, it’s a secure, trusting connection where both partners feel seen, valued, and deeply close.

IFS works from the framework that we aren’t just one static personality - we are made up of different "parts." In couples work, I use Intimacy From the Inside Out (IFIO), an application of IFS, to map those parts of you that take over when your relationship feels threatened.
Instead of reacting in survival mode, you’ll learn how to soothe your internal system and speak from your triggered parts rather than as them. This simple shift stops the automatic cycle and allows you to turn toward your partner from a calm, clear, and compassionate place.

Relational healing isn't a quick fix, but it is a lasting one. Here is what the arc of our work typically looks like:
Phase 1: The Initial Relief (Weeks 1–6) You might feel a little nervous or overwhelmed, but you'll quickly feel the relief of having a dedicated, neutral space to unpack the heavy lifting.
Phase 2: Clarity & Vocabulary (Months 3–6) The fog clears. You’ll begin to clearly identify your core triggers, understand your partner's internal landscape, and feel more confident expressing your actual needs.
Phase 3: Deep Rewiring (Months 6–12) Your nervous systems settle. Fights happen less frequently and lose their toxic edge. You are finally able to invite, enjoy, and sustain deep connection, play, and intimacy.

Absolutely. These same principles apply to all close human bonds. I use these same techniques to help parents and adult children reconnect, families navigate transitions, or close friends rebuild trust.
